“Therefore he is able to save completely (forever) those who come to God through him, because he always lives to intercede for them.”

In Bible days before Jesus’ death and resurrection, priest would offer sacrifices and prayers for the sins of people. This had to be done over and over again because, as human beings, people kept on sinning. The atonement was not permanent.
Then Jesus came and changed everything! Jesus’ death and resurrection took the place of all those sacrifices that had been being made. Unlike the blood of animal sacrifices that only covered some sins, Jesus’ blood covers all our sins. Also, unlike the animal sacrifices that had to be repeated, Jesus’ atonement lasts forever. He died to cover our sins once and for all and His resurrection gave us a pathway to spend eternity with Him!
When we accept this salvation from God through Jesus, we receive forgiveness of sins and eternal life, and nothing can ever take that away from us.
But more than that, Jesus continues to speak on our behalf to the Father. When we stumble, when we mess up and fall short of what we should be doing, Jesus still loves us. He still calls us His own and He still presents us to the Father as one saved by His loving grace.
Now that is GOOD NEWS!
