“Look, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sins of the world!”
John 1:29
Today is Palm Sunday. It is the beginning of Holy or Passion Week. The days leading up to Resurrection Day (or Easter) each commemorate the last week of Jesus’ earthly life. In five short days Jesus went from being praised and worshipped to being arrested, deserted, beaten and tried unfairly and then sentenced to death by crucifixion.
As we remember these special days and as we prepare our hearts and minds to celebrate the victory of Easter Sunday — Jesus’ Resurrection— we can join with John in pointing those around us to Jesus. He was and is the Lamb of God that came to take away the sins of the world. He did that very thing for you and me when He died on the cross. His suffering was for each person that has ever lived.
But that is not the end of the story, Jesus did even more! He conquered death and the grave when He arose to life again! Today He still lives and because of all of this we too can live eternally with Him.
Let us never forget to praise and worship the wonderful Lamb of God, who took away the sins of the world to provide salvation for all of us!
Thank you, Jesus!
