“The Lord is good to all; he has compassion on all he has made.”
Psalm 145:9
This week we will celebrate the special Day of Thanksgiving. This day was set aside many years ago as a national day of gratitude. Although we should live gratefully before our Lord everyday, we should make a special effort on Thanksgiving Day to count our many blessings.
Most of all we should be thankful for a God that is compassionate and loving to us, even when we are not so lovable. We are His creations which He loves. He is good to everyone, whether we acknowledge it or not. He is kind and caring to all His creations.
In fact, He is so full of compassion for us that He sent His only Son, Jesus, to take our sins from us. When we accept this salvation from sin we are made new and clean before God. We are spared from eternal punishment in hell. Instead we can look forward to a life in heaven where there will be joy, peace and love forever.
As we count our blessings, let us always remember to thank God for His love and compassion toward us everyday. May our lives be filled with an “attitude of gratitude” for the love God pours out upon us.
