Many unsettling things can happen in our lives. Sickness, injury, loss of jobs, loss of family or friends, wars and fighting are just some of the tragedies that strike us. We hear daily about shootings, burglaries and all manner of abuse and hurtful acts toward others. Even if we are not directly involved in such events our hearts break for those that are in the midst of them.
Our verse today gives us encouragement though. As God’s children or the righteous (those in right standing with God) we have a strong foundation. One that is unshakeable, one that is always in control and one that is mightier than anything the world can throw at us. Our hearts may be broken for others, our own world may be shaken, but we can remain steady with God because we know that our Lord will see us through.
