“And everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved;”

Joel 2:32

“Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”

Romans 10:13

Here are two verses that say the same thing, yet they are found in two different parts of the Bible. One is in the Old Testament and the other in the New.  The verse from Joel  was directed to the nation of Israel as part of a warning of things to come as punishment for their waywardness. But God loved Israel and included these words to give them hope and and confidence that He had not deserted them, they needed only to return to His loving arms and be saved.

Paul repeated these words as he also preached to Israel. But the message that God spoke through Paul went a lot further. Paul told the people that God made no difference between Jew (Israel) and Gentile (any non-Jew)).  Today, God still  wants people to  know that He loves everyone and His salvation is for everyone.

What a wonderful message to share! Salvation is not dependent on race or nationality. It is not dependent on social standing, education or material possessions. God wants to give it to everyone! The only requirement is to repent of our sins and humbly call out to Jesus.

The Lord is waiting to hear from you. Don’t wait another day. Call on the the name of the Lord today and be saved forever.

(Read Romans 10:9-13 for more about being saved.)
