“And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds.

…let us encourage one another.”

Hebrews 10:24-25

Encouragement and appreciation are important to all of us. We may never know how a smile, a pat on the back, or a word of gratitude may help someone. There is a lady in our church that just has a knack for sending thoughtful cards to others. She probably does not realize what a ministry she is carrying out by sending out these kind messages.

Knowing that someone is praying for you when you’re sick or going through a trial helps to lighten the load. Hearing someone say “thank you” for your efforts makes you feel appreciated. A compliment of “great job” encourages us to keep trying. We show Christ-like love  when we take the time to help others by showing an interest in them, when we encourage them and show that we truly appreciate and value what they do.

A kind word or action may be just what someone else needs to be “spurred on” toward greater works for the Lord.
